here's what i've been up to...

baby quilts...babies everywhere! the orange and green quilt is for my best friends' sister. she didn't want to find out what she was having so i made something neutral! it's a disappearing 9 made with an assortment of fat quarters.
these two quilts are made from a single jelly roll...moda sleepytime. the back is a coordinating moda fabric. these are for my niece and nephew born earlier this year. they will receive them at christmas...auntie suzi had barely started sewing by the time they were born!

i've also made a quilt for grandma for christmas. i'll post pictures of the top tomorrow...it has a date with the quilt shop this month for quilting...hope it will be done in time for christmas!

Pinky Pink

Wow! It's been a little while, but I promise I've been productive!! I've made my  first sleepsack...and I learned that I'm really not good with patterns...I guess I'd rather just wing it!! AND....drum roll please...I've finished my first quilt!!! YEAH!  I have so many quilt tops done, but I was scared to death of binding...but this weekend I conquered my fear!! I'm so pumped! Pinky Pink is for my husbands cousin who is expecting her first child in December!

Grandma's Fabric

My grandparents are moving. Not just moving, but building a brand new house, and moving off the farm they've owned for the 60 years that they've been married. SOOOOO...needless to say grandma's packing! I told her in casual conversation one day that if she decided that she didn't want to pack all of her fabric I would take it. I didn't tell her why i wanted it, and she didn't ask, she just said she would let me know. This weekend, I picked it up! My oh my is there a lot of fabric...sad part is, she didn't give it all to me...I saw tubs of it packed to move!!!

My original plan was to divide the fabric up and make a quilt for each of her grandkids (there's 8 of us!). I know the quilts won't be very big and maybe not even pretty, but once I got the fabric home and divided into color specific piles I didn't know HOW I was going to choose who got what or even what types of quilts I was going to make...I'm overwhelmed.

Any ideas? I'd love to hear them!

Browns

Blues

Yellows

Reds

Black & White

Greens

Pinks & Purples

There are several scraps, but also several LARGE pieces of fabric...probably a yard or more.

My New Adventure

For the past few months I've been an active reader of several blogs, in which I've learned a TON of useful information related to sewing and crafting and cooking. So, I thought it was only fitting for me to start my own blog so that others may also benefit, not only from my experiences, but those of others. I hope to share tons of pictures of current projects and creations with you! Enjoy, but bear with me as I am completely new to the world of blogging!

Simply,

Suzi
